OOO for web preview

OOO app for web, our video conversation platform, brings the energy and movement we enjoy in-person back to discussions over video. We’re looking for feedback, so we’re sharing an experimental preview—let us know what you think as you poke around.

Requirements

OOO for web is compatible with most modern desktop web browsers, but for best results, we recommend Chrome.

Internet Explorer 11 does not support OOO.

OOO for web does NOT work on mobile browsers. For use on mobile iOS/ iPadOS devices, download our iOS app. An Android app is coming soon.

When connecting to OOO for web, you should be automatically prompted to grant permission to the OOO website to access your camera and microphone. These permissions are required for OOO to function.

If you need to manually allow camera and microphone access, follow the steps for your browser below:

Chrome

  1. Go to Chrome > Preferences > Site Settings >  Permissions > Camera. Make sure Sites can ask to use your camera is selected.
  2. Go to Chrome > Preferences > Site Settings >  Permissions > Microphone. Make sure Sites can ask to use your microphone is selected.  
  3. At ooo.mmhmm.app, click the lock icon next to the URL in the address bar > Site settings. In the dropdown menus for Camera and Microphone, select Allow.

Firefox

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Camera > Settings. Make sure that Block new requests asking to access your camera is unchecked. If ooo.mmhmm.app is listed in this window, make sure to select Allow then Save Changes.
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy & SecurityPermissions > Microphone > Settings. Make sure that Block new requests asking to access your microphone is unchecked. If ooo.mmhmm.app is listed in this window, make sure to select Allow then Save Changes.
  3. Visit ooo.mmhmm.app and select Allow in the permissions box if prompted.

Safari

  1. Go to Safari > Preferences > Websites > Camera. Next to When visiting other websites, select Ask or Allow in the menu. If ooo.mmhmm.app is listed in this window, make sure Allow or Ask is selected
  2. Go to Safari > Preferences > Websites > Microphone. Next to When visiting other websites, select  Ask or Allow. If ooo.mmhmm.app is listed in this window, make sure Allow or Ask is selected.
  3. Visit ooo.mmhmm.app. If you selected Ask in the previous menus, you should be prompted to grant microphone and camera permissions to OOO for web. If you selected Allow in the previous menus, OOO should automatically have permission to access your camera and microphone.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Camera
  2. Next to Choose which camera the browser can access select the camera you want to use from the dropdown menu.
  3. Make sure Ask before accessing is toggled on.
  4. If ooo.mmhmm.app is in the section labeled Block, click the trash icon next to it.
  5. Go to Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Microphone..
  6. Next to Choose which microphone the browser can access,  select the microphone you want to use from the dropdown menu.
  7. Make sure Ask before accessing is toggled on.
  8. If ooo.mmhmm.app is in the section labeled Block, click the trash icon next to it.
  9. Visit ooo.mmhmm.app. You should be prompted to grant microphone and camera permissions to OOO web.

How to start an OOO for web call

To start a call, go to ooo.mmhmm.app.

To invite people to the call, click btn_invite_2x.png Invite from the upper right corner and send the link to them. OOO for web allows up to ten people per call.

Once you are done with the call, click btn_leave_2x.png Leave from the upper right hand corner.

How to change your appearance

The toolbar in the lower left corner provides multiple options for changing your appearance. 

The SNsuGY3Q.png Circle button toggles between a circle frame and a silhouette frame.

The QrpJIPTc.png Size button opens a slider that changes how large you appear on screen. You can also use two fingers on your trackpad to resize yourself. 

The TecAbtTY.png Fade button opens a slider that changes the opacity of your image.

The C1hRh4iY.png Spin button opens a slider that allows you to rotate your image.

The phqiFnd8.png Effects menu adds overlays to your appearance or entire image.

How to change your room

To change your virtual background, or room, click the arrow next to wzXiws3A.png Rooms on the lower left-hand corner to open the rooms menu.

How to change your camera and microphone

To change your camera, click the arrow next to rU3WVjIY.png Camera on the lower right corner of the screen and select your preferred camera. 

To turn your camera off or on, click rU3WVjIY.png  Camera

To change your microphone, click the arrow next to z9a0BG88.png Microphone on the lower right corner of the screen and select your preferred microphone. 

To turn your microphone off or on, click z9a0BG88.png Microphone

To mirror your video, click the arrow next to the rU3WVjIY.png Camera icon on the lower right corner of the screen and choose Settings > Mirror video

 

OOO for web FAQs

How secure is OOO? 

OOO is as secure as we can make it, using modern available technology. We do not store or send any personal information. To establish a connection between the two devices, we use encrypted WebRTC, which Google and Facebook use for their video-conference apps. 

Do I need a mmhmm account to use OOO? 

No. Anyone can use OOO for web.

Does OOO work with mmhmm on desktop?

OOO for web allows calls only between people on OOO for web. It does not connect with OOO for iOS or mmhmm for Mac or Windows.

Can I use OOO on my mobile device?

OOO for web is currently only supported on desktop devices. There is currently an app for iOS devices. An Android version is planned for the future.

Can I connect with people using OOO for iOS?

Currently you cannot use OOO for web to connect with people on our iOS app. This is a feature that will be coming soon. 

Why is it called OOO?

OOO’s name comes from the acronym for “out-of-office.” Taking you out of the formal office grid is exactly what we want to do. 

Is this the same thing as Teleport?
Yes! We previously referred to this as Teleport, but renamed the app OOO.

Can I add the similar explanation for Fade?
You can slide two fingers up or down on your trackpad to changes the opacity of your image
