7. Presenting with a co-presenter: mmhmm Copilot

It’s your show.

Hi there! If you’re like us, you’re spending a lot more time on video than ever before. With mmhmm, we’re trying to make that a bit more fun and engaging. Clear, compelling video communication should be easy for everyone.

This article is meant to be a user manual of sorts, so read it in its entirety or use the table of contents to jump around. Check out other articles in this user manual on the right-hand side of this page.

Coming soon to Windows

Copilot allows two people to link their mmhmm presentations and control the slides on the screens of both presenters. By using Copilot, two people can edit and control the same presentation. When you present on a video call, the slides can be shown behind each person, though you each control your own appearance.

In this linked state, changes made in Presenter 1’s mmhmm window are shown in Presenter 2’s mmhmm window. Either co-presenter can advance the slides, allowing one person to “drive” for the other. For the audience, the slides are shown at the same time by both presenters, no matter who is talking.

How to link presentations in Copilot

  1. Your co-presenter must also have mmhmm.
  2. Make sure you both have selected mmhmm as the camera in your video conferencing tool.
  3. Then the main presenter creates the link by clicking the “Copilot” button in the mmhmm toolbar
  4. Copy the URL that appears, and send this URL to your co-presenter
  5. When the co-presenter clicks the URL, you’ll see a confirmation that they’ve successfully linked to your presentation

At this point, your presentations will be linked, and any added, removed, or reordered slide changes either of you make will be reflected in real-time on the screen of the other person. When you both join the video call, either of you can control the slides and toggle their visibility.

Using Copilot rooms

In the Rooms catalog, select a Copilot room (any room with the two-person icon) to thematically join your backgrounds so you appear to be in the same place.

Copilot FAQ

How do I make both presenters appear in the same speaker box?

At this time, we do not have the option to get both speakers in the same box. However, we recommend using Active Speaker View in Zoom if you want your viewers to see one focal slide with each presenter popping in and out of the presentation like this:

When recording a presentation using Copilot, we recommend using the speaker view.

If you wish to present with each presenter visible at all times, use Gallery View in Zoom.

Not all video conferencing platforms have the ability to change the view that the speakers are presented, so be sure to double-check with your video conferencing software of choice's help center to verify.

If I have mmhmm Premium and my Copilot does not, will they still be able to present with me?

Absolutely, the only limitations will be in their ability to use Premium features, such as Copilot rooms.

Can I have a Copilot drive the slides while I speak and they are off-camera?

You sure can! We've had a number of users run a simulated conference with a "production crew" to advance the slides on the main speaker's behalf. They can turn their video off and still have access to all of the slides.
