Add slides and content in mmhmm

Strengthen your presentation or conversation in mmhmm by adding slides and content. Here's how to design, arrange, manage, and delete slides and content.

Add slides

  1. Open the mmhmm app on your computer or go to ooo.mmhmm.app/talk in a web browser.
  2. Create a new presentation or open an existing one.
  3. Click Add Slide in the bottom left corner of mmhmm and choose a layout you want to add (read below for information on types of slide layouts). This will create a new, blank slide where you can add content.

    If you chose a slide layout that has placeholders, add content to your slide by clicking the placeholder and a choosing content type in the sidebar. Learn more about types of content.

  4. Repeat this process to add more slides. When you're done adding slides to your presentation, you can:

Add content to your slides.
• Organize the layout of your content.
• Re-order, duplicate, move, or delete slides.
• Record and edit a video.
• Invite others to work together on your slides.
• Connect mmhmm to zoom, meet, or teams to present your slides on a call.

Types of slides

lower thirds.png Lower Thirds A video feed of you with a text and logo banner at the bottom of the mmhmm stage.
big text.png Big Text A big text box with you at the bottom right of the mmhmm stage.
big media.png Big Media A big media content and title banner with you at the bottom right of the mmhmm stage.

Add content to your slides

To add content to your slide, choose the media type at the top of the mmhmm window. Read below for more information on types of content you can add to slides.

Choose from Screenshare, Media, Text, GIPHY, or More to access more options:

  • Access the Media Library by clicking Media. Any content you add will be stored in the Media Library and can be reused across all of your mmhmm presentations.
  • Add as many text boxes, animated GIFs, photos, or other content as you want on 1 slide (which can help convey your message or tell a story to your audience).
  • Edit content settings using the menu in the mmhmm sidebar. Click the item you want to edit and the menu will appear automatically.

Types of content

Add different types of content in mmhmm such as text, GIFs, videos, photos, screenshares, and more. Click each content type below for more information.

Screenshare
  1. To share your computer screen or a window, click Screenshare.
  2. Select your entire screen or a specific window. Then click Share.
  3. To record a part of your screen, click and drag the sides of the screen share content after you share your screen or window.
Note: mmhmm does not support sharing DRM protected streaming content from Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming apps. If you try to share this type of content, you may see a black screen in place of the shared content, as shown in the screenshot below:

Text
  1. To add text to your slide, click Add Text to create a new text box.
  2. Type what you want to display on your slide.
  3. To confirm your changes, click anywhere outside of the text box once you're done typing.
    • Change the size by clicking and dragging the sides of the text box.
    • Change the font style, color, and alignment, and more in the sidebar on the right.

GIPHY
  1. To add an animated GIF to your slide, click GIPHY.
  2. In the search bar, enter a keyword to find a GIF.
  3. Select your GIF and click Add.

Files from your computer (presentation slide decks, images, videos)
Import a presentation or other file type
  1. Click Media.
  2. Click Browse computer.
  3. Select a file from your device and click Open. Learn which file formats work with mmhmm.

Import multiple files at the same time

  • On Mac, press and hold Shift on your keyboard while you select the files you want to import. When you're done, click Open.
  • On Windows, press and hold Ctrl on your keyboard while you select the files you want to import. When you're done, click Open.
Note:
Whiteboard (Draw)
  1. To add a whiteboard to your slide, click More and select Draw in the drop-down menu.
  2. Hover over the whiteboard to display the controls. You can choose between a thick or thin brushstroke, eight different colors, and clear the whiteboard.
  3. To draw, click and drag your cursor across the whiteboard.

 

mmhmm Video

To add an mmhmm video to your slide:

  1. Click More and select mmhmm Video in the drop-down menu.
  2. Select an mmhmm video that you've published or that has been shared with you. The video will be automatically added to your slide and start playing.

You can adjust the volume, change the playback speed, and jump to individual slides with the video playback controls.

Second camera

You can share a second camera feed to help your audience understand your story from a different angle. To add a second camera:

  1. Connect a second camera to your computer.
  2. Click More and select Add Camera in the drop-down menu.
  3. Click the Select camera drop-down menu and select your second camera.
  4. Click Use camera.

Your second camera feed will now appear on your slide.

When you're done adding content to your slides, you can:

• Add more slides.
Organize the layout of your content.
Re-order, duplicate, move, or delete slides.
Record and edit a video.
Invite others to work together on your slides.
Connect mmhmm to zoom, meet, or teams to present your slides on a call.

Arrange slide content

Reposition Click and drag content to reposition it. Your content will snap and align to other content (including your video feed) on the mmhmm stage.
Resize Click and drag a corner of the content to resize it.
Crop Click and drag an edge of the content to crop it.

Auto-crop Crop your content automatically to a specific aspect ratio. In the sidebar, choose from:
  • square (1:1)
  • portrait (3:4)
  • landscape (4:3)
  • widescreen (16:9)
  • fit/fill the entire slide

Reposition crop
Double-click the content to reposition and resize it within the cropped area.

Reset crop

Click Reset crop in the sidebar to restore the content to its original shape.

Replace

Click the Replace drop-down in the sidebar to replace the content with another type.

Layout

Click Forward to bring your content 1 layer forward. Click Backward to send your content 1 layer backward. This is useful if you have many pieces of content that overlap each other on the same slide.

Hold Option (Alt on Windows) to show the Front and Back buttons. Click Front or Back to bring your content to the front or back of the mmhmm stage.

Remove
Click Remove from slide in the sidebar to delete content from the slide.

Format text

Change the text theme, color, size, and formatting by clicking textbox and changing its settings in the sidebar.

When you're done adding organizing the content on your slides, you can:

Add more slides.
Add more content to your slides.
Re-order, duplicate, move, or delete slides.
Record and edit a video.
Invite others to work together on your slides.
Connect mmhmm to zoom, meet, or teams to present your slides on a call.

Place content behind or in front of you

To show your content behind or in front of you, first click the content on the mmhmm stage you want to move. Then, click forward or backward in the sidebar. This works for everything on the mmhmm stage, including your video feed. For example, use the forward or backward buttons to reorder and overlap content behind and in front of you for a 3D effect:



Manage, reorder, and copy slides/settings

Reorder slides

Click and drag a slide to a new position in the slide tray.

Duplicate slides Right-click a slide in the slide tray and select Duplicate.
Copy slides to another presentation

To copy 1 slide from the slide tray to another presentation:

Right-click a slide in the slide tray and select Copy slide to presentation. Then, select the presentation you want to copy to.

To copy all slides from the slide tray to another presentation:

Click the presentation name at the top of the window and select Copy slides to presentation. Then, select the presentation you want to copy to.

Copy settings from 1 slide to another slide

To apply all settings (content, presenter, and background settings) from 1 slide to another slide:

Click a slide with settings you want to copy. Then, right-click another slide in the slide tray and click Apply settings from selected slide.

  • Hold Option (Alt on Windows) to apply only background settings.
  • Hold Shift to apply only presenter settings.
Copy settings from 1 slide to the entire slide tray

To apply all settings (content, presenter, and background settings) from 1 slide to the entire slide tray:

Right-click a slide in the slide tray and click Apply settings to all slides.

  • Hold Option (Alt on Windows) to apply only background settings.
  • Hold Shift to apply only presenter settings.
Delete slides

Right-click a slide in the slide tray and select Delete.

When you're done managing your slides, you can:

Add more slides.
Organize the layout of your content.
Record and edit a video.
Invite others to work together on your slides.
Connect mmhmm to zoom, meet, or teams to present your slides on a call.
