Use Elgato's Stream Deck with mmhmm

Learn how to configure and use an Elgato Stream Deck with mmhmm to control various mmhmm functions quickly and easily.

Note: mmhmm must be installed on your computer in order to use it with the Stream Deck.

Install and configure the mmhmm plugin

  1. Download and install your Stream Deck's software from the Elgato downloads page.
  2. Download and install the mmhmm plugin from the Elgato Marketplace. (You'll be required to sign in with your Elgato Marketplace account in order to download or update the mmhmm plugin.)
  3. Launch the Elgato Stream Deck application. This will reveal the Stream Deck configuration window. The mmhmm functions will appear on the right hand side menu.

Assign mmhmm functions to your Stream Deck

  1. Assign an mmhmm function to your Stream Deck by using your mouse to drag and drop the mmhmm function to the corresponding Stream Deck button.

  2. Click an assigned mmhmm function to reveal further configuration options.

  3. Once you've configured your desired button layout, assign mmhmm as the default app for this profile so your Stream Deck automatically switches to your mmhmm controls when mmhmm is opened.

    To assign mmhmm as the default app to this profile, click the profile name > Edit Profiles... > select mmhmm from the Application dropdown.

Full list of mmhmm controls

CONTROL FUNCTION
Zoom Change camera zoom level. Choose between increasing or decreasing zoom or set a specific zoom level.
Works with Stream Deck + dials.
Camera Frame Select camera frame type. Choose between siloutette, circle, or rectangle frames.
Go to Slide Advance to the next slide or go back to the previous slide in the slide tray.
Enhancement Set enhancement level. Choose between increasing or decreasing enhancement.
Works with Stream Deck + dials. 
Effect / Effect Intensity
Cycle through all effects or turn on/off a pre-selected effect (mmhmm must be open to choose a pre-selected effect).
Works with Stream Deck + dials.
Fade Increase or decrease your transparancy on the mmhmm stage.
Works with Stream Deck + dials.
Rotate Rotate yourself 360° on the mmhmm stage.
Works with Stream Deck + dials.
Size Increase or decrease your size.
Works with Stream Deck + dials.
Change Background Cycle through the top 12 backgrounds or set a pre-selected one (mmhmm must be open to choose a pre-selected background).
Media Toggle
Turn on/off a specific piece of media in your mmhmm slide.
Background Toggle Turn on/off the mmhmm virtual background. This will also disable all style effects except for the Enhance effect, Big Hands, and the mmhmm logo.
Big Hands Toggle Turn on/off Big Hands mode.
Fullscreen Toggle Switch between full screen size and your last preset size.
Camera Toggle Turn on/off camera.
Mic Toggle Turn on/off microphone.
Mirror Video Toggle

Mirror (flip) your appearance on the mmhmm stage.

Record Start or pause your recording.
Slide Toggle Turn on/off slides in the slide tray.

Update the mmhmm plugin

  1. Open the Stream Deck app and click the gear icon at the top of the window. This will open the Preferences window.
  2. Click the Plugins tab at the top of the window.
  3. Click the mmhmm plugin on the left-hand side.
  4. Click Check for updates next to the version number to update the plugin. Enable the  Automatically update checkbox below to automatically keep the mmhmm plugin up to date.

Uninstall the mmhmm plugin

  1. Right-click any of the mmhmm functions in the Stream Deck configuration tool and select Uninstall.

  2. A confirmation window will appear asking if you're sure you want to uninstall the mmhmm plugin. Click Uninstall to confirm.
