Captions (subtitles) allow a larger audience to watch your videos, such as deaf or hard-of-hearing viewers and viewers who speak a different language. Captions are automatically generated when your mmhmm video is published.
Edit automatic captions
Automatic captions are not always 100% accurate and may need to be edited to fix incorrectly transcribed words or remove filler words and sounds.
- In mmhmm, click Presentations at the top. This will open your presentation library.
- Select the presentation that you've published a video for. Presentations with associated videos will have a Videos section in the right panel.
- In the right panel, click Edit under the video. This will open the video editor.
- In the left sidebar, go to Captions.
- Click the subtitle line you want to edit. The video playback will jump to the timestamp associated with that subtitle line.
- Make your edits to the subtitle line.
- When you're done, click anywhere outside the text box. A Captions updated successfully notification will appear at the bottom of your screen.
Add manual captions
You can also add manual captions to your video, such as subtitles in a different language.
- Click the ⋯ menu and select Upload SRT file.
- Click Choose file for import.
- Select the SRT file on your computer, then click Open.
- [Optional] To change the language label of your captions, click the language dropdown menu and select a language.
- This is not a translation tool and will only set the language label that viewers see in the caption options in the video player.
- Click Import. A Captions updated successfully notification will appear at the bottom of your screen.
